The Municipality of Sithonia in collaboration with the Museum of Byzantine Culture hosts the temporary exhibition “Travelling in the Eastern Mediterranean through the Digital Archive of Greek Culture of Theodoros Korres (AUTH)” in August, 12th until September 20th in the Art Gallery Apothiki at the Nikiti’s beach.

Having as a general theme the Mediterranean, the event is placed within the “5M Movement”, a Joint Action of the five major museums of the city. The exhibition was also hosted at the Hellenic Cosmos, in the Foundation of the Hellenic World from January to February 2016, as well as the Archaeological Museum of Karditsa at the same year. The exhibition is based on the photographic material produced during the educational excursions of the department of History and Archaeology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki that was incorporated in the digital archive of Greek Culture of Theodoros Korres.

Structured into seven sections, the exhibition leads visitors to an imaginary route around the Mediterranean. The exhibition will be inaugurated at Friday, 12th of August at 9 o ‘clock in the evening and will remain open till September 20th for educational reasons so that school units will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition. The exhibition is organised in the frame of the cooperation of the Municipality of Sithonia with the pioneering representatives of the cultural and artistic world and signals through the exceptional presence of the Museum of Byzantine Culture the steady willingness of the municipality and the mayor in particular to present to inhabitants and visitors events of high cultural and artistic value.
