«APOSTLE PAUL» by Efthymios Varlamis

06.06.2016 - 02.10.2016

The Holy Diocese of Thessaloniki, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reconstruction (Macedonia and Thrace), presents the collection of Professor Efthymios Varlamis “APOSTLE PAUL” in the Museum of Byzantine Culture.

The work of this Greek of the diaspora, after the presentations in the Austrian Museum of Art, was presented in the hometown of the artist, Veria, in 2013, in collaboration with the Holy Diocese of Veria. Then he was invited by the former Pope Benedict in a magnificent presentation in the Basilica of St. Paul in Rome in 2014.

Alongside with the artistic collection of Apostle Paul, the project “IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF ST. PAUL” is presented. The project, which is an idea of Prof. Varlamis, includes the pilgrimage route of the Apostle of Nations in Macedonia and it is a development project of religious tourism, which responds dynamically to the today “crisis” of our country.

The adoption of the project, but also the unity of all the public and private institutions, which are involved and support the exhibition and the program, is a shining example for the present reality, that our country can overcome the so-called crisis with projects referring to our historical and religious tradition.

The Region of Central Macedonia, the Ministry of Economy and Tourism and the Regional Association of Municipalities of Central Macedonia together with companies, such as Aegean Airlines, MACEDONIA PALACE hotel and the group of companies Samaras & Associates participate in the exhibition.

The exhibition is curated by the Vergina Experimental Workshop and the ART MUSEUM of Austria.
