Solidus of Heraclius
On the one side are depicted the emperor Heraclius on the left and his son and co-emperor Heraclius Constantine on the right, wearing chlamys and crown with a cross. Between their heads is a cross. Around the perimeter is the inscription “ddNNhERACLIUS ЄτhЄRACONSTPPAV” (Dominus Noster Heraclius et Heraclius Constantinus Perpetuus Augustus), which means “Our Lords Heraclius and Heraclius Constantine the eternal emperors”. On the reverse a cross on a stepped base is depicted. Around the perimeter reads the inscription “VICTORIA AUGU” (Victoria Augustorum) which means “Victory of the emperor” and in the lower part CONOB which stands for the Constantinople mint (COΝ and ΟΒ[ryzum] which means pure gold).
