Programme and abstracts of the scientific meeting “Fortifications of the Justinian’s era in Macedonia, Thrace and Thessalia” in the frame of the temporary exhibition “From Macedonian to Thessalian Tempi: from Rentina to Velika”. The meeting was organised by the Museum of Byzantine Culture and was held on November 1st, 2019 in the memory of the professor N. Moutsopoulos.
The aim of the above meeting was to present to the public known or unknown fortified sites (cities, settlements, stations, forts, fortifications, observatories-guardhouses) founded in the Justinian era in Macedonia and Thrace and to illuminate issues regarding the castle-building, the fortress, the engineering, the organisation and the use of land, and the war techniques of this particular era.
