Lead seal of Theophilopoulos
A skillfully made seal of high quality. Saint Nikephoros is depicted on one side in full length and in frontal pose wearing military attire and holding a spear and a sword. Left and right there is the inscription “Saint Nikephorus”. On the other side in a punched circle is a four-line inscription “Document seal of Theophilopoulos”. In all likelyhood the seal belonged to one of the few Greek officers who remained in the service of Latins after the fall of Constantinople in 1204.
