Solidus of Theophilus
In the one side emperor Theophilus is depicted in bust length with imperial vestments, holding cross and acacia. Around the perimeter reads the inscription “Theophilus emperor”. In the other side, Theophilus’ father, Michael II with his son, Constantine, are depicted in imperial vestments. Between their heads is a cross. Around the perimeter reads the inscription “Michael and Constantine”. The coin was issued at the time of Theophilus co-emperorship with his father, Michael II, founder of the Amorian dynasty (820-867).
