Glazed bowl with a monogram of St Demetrios
In the centre of the well of this bowl, on a white slip, is incised the ligature of the name of St Demetrios. The glaze of the bowl is colourless. Vessels of this kind have been found in significant numbers in Thessaloniki and elsewhere and are associated with the ayiasma (source of holy water) of the saint’s basilica.
