The Museum of Byzantine Culture, in the frame of this year’s 45th Dimitria, organized by the Municipality of Thessaloniki, hosted an exhibition of the artist Constantine Xenakis.
Constantine Xenakis, artist of the Greek diaspora, has internationally been distinguished with his original work. His visual discourse, based on continuous search, full of notions, symbols, metaphors and thoughts on the contemporary reality and technology, requires the activation of the viewer’s thinking, in order to be able to follow the path of the artist’s inspiration.
Two works of the artist, on the cemeteries of the early Christian era, which are displayed in the third room of the Museum “From the Elysian Fields to Christian Paradise”, present particular interest. Both works give to the visitor the chance and the opportunity for comparisons in artistic or intellectual level with the ancient artefacts and moreover open a dialogue between past and present on life issues, such as death.
