Gallery 11
Opened on January 31st 2004, the last gallery is the ‘epilogue’ to the permanent exhibition. Using both archaeological material as well as digital media, it illustrates the journey of an ancient object from the excavation where it is discovered to the museum where it is displayed, via the intervening stages of its documentation, study and conservation. In this room the history of the museums is also presented with the use of two computers with touch screens. Moreover, a short film is screened titled “Museum of Byzantine Culture. Landscape and memories” presenting the history of the area where the Museum was built.
The room was co-funded by the European Union (Third Community Support Framework, Operational Programme “Culture” 2000-2006) and the Greek Ministry of Culture.
