The Museum of Byzantine Culture invites you cordially to the scientific meeting “Fortifications of the Justinian era in Macedonia, Thrace and Thessaly”-Memory of N. Moutsopoulos, which will be held on Friday 1 November 2019 (09:45-15:00) at the amphitheatre “Melina Merkouri” of the Museum.

The purpose of the above conference, which is a parallel event of the temporary exhibition “From Macedonian to Thessalian Tempi: from Rentina to Velika” (“Kyriakos Krokos” hall of the Museum of Byzantine Culture-21/12/2018 to 30/9/2019), is to present to the public known and unknown strongholds (cities, settlements, stations, towers, walls, outposts) of the Justinian I era from Macedonia, Thrace and Thessaly, and to illuminate issues, related to the building of castles, to fortification, engineering, organization and use of space, and also to the war techniques of the time.
